Are you looking for inspiration for a truly unique wedding? Here’s some of the best quirky wedding themes to get those creative ideas flowing…
The days of formal white weddings with carbon-copy reception rooms, duplicate ceremonies and standard evening celebrations are thankfully very much over. These days, the emphasis is on getting creative; celebrating your unique personal style and making the day all about you! Here’s some wonderful ideas to inspire you for your own big day.
Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, Anyone?
Kippure Estate formed the backdrop of a wedding of the most unusual kind; a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party! This colourful, playful take on the Alice in Wonderland theme made this a completely unforgettable event. The walls were decorated with vibrant fabrics, the tables adorned with mushrooms, tea cups and mad March hares, and the bride herself looked amazing in a bright purple dress! Looking to literary classics is a great way to draw inspiration.
A Few Tricks Up Our Sleeve…
We recently had a request about erecting a circus tent on the grounds of Kippure Estate (which we can manage, incidentally). The theme of the wedding? Fabulous circus performers, of course! With this theme, you can really go to town. Hire jugglers and acrobats to entertain the guests, dress the groom up as the ringleader, and arrive to your ceremony on the back of your own brightly decorated circus horse!
Other Fabulously Unique Wedding Ideas
1) Inspiration from the films. If you and your partner have a film you both love, why not use it as a springboard to develop some creative wedding ideas? You could have a casino-themed reception courtesy of James Bond; or a 1920s extravaganza inspired by the Great Gatsby.
2) Favourite characters. If you’re a bit obsessed with Batman, in love with Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, or enamoured with 80s rock-stars, incorporate your tastes into your special day. It doesn’t have to be completely over-the-top, even a subtle nod to your personal passions are enough to give your wedding a really unique flavour.
3) Fairy-tales. If you’re a romantic at heart, fairy-tales provide the perfect inspiration. Think glass slippers as table decorations, Snow-White inspired bridesmaid’s dresses and thrones instead of chairs for when you sit down for the first time as Mr & Mrs!
