Getting hitched? Now’s the time to let your hair down with your friends & have the best hen-party ever! Here are some tips to help you plan the ideal event.
Top Hen Tip #1 > Don’t Leave It ‘Til the Last Minute
We know you’re busy, but it’s imperative to do your research early, and make sure you get booked up quickly! The last thing you want is to be left with limited options. A few flat pints down the local, anyone? No… we thought not!
Top Hen Tip #2 > Involve the Bride
If you’re planning a hen-do on behalf of the bride, it’s tempting to surprise her. However, this approach is risky; and you don’t want her to be disappointed on the big day. If you want to bring an element of surprise to the event, just ask her for some general ideas. You might also want to get an idea of what she really doesn’t want as well. Booking a muscle-bound Chippendale might send you into a frenzy of excitement, but might just send the bride into a state of embarrassment! (That’s not the type of blushing bride you want, ok?)
Top Hen Tip #3 > Do Something Unique
Sure, a night on the town is always good fun, but is it going to be special enough for an unforgettable hen night? Don’t be afraid to step out of the box and try something new. For example, at Kippure Estate, you can call upon your inner Wild Wicklow Woman and have a go Welly Throwing and Wheelbarrow Racing!
Top Hen Tip #4 > Manage Your Guest-List
Arranging the guest list can always be a bit tricky. After all, do you need to invite Great Aunty Ethel? (Is she even still alive?) If you’re in any doubt at all, liaise with the bride, as it would be dreadful if you missed anyone important off the list.
Top Hen Tip #5 > Keep Everyone Informed
Right at the start, gather everyone’s email addresses, so you can send out updates when you’ve finalised dates, venues and so on. Double-check the details, as you don’t want to accidentally leave someone out.
Top Hen Tip #6 > Don’t Forget to Eat!
Okay, so chances are that you might be drinking rather a few glasses of pink champagne and getting just a little bit giggly. However, whilst that’s great, it’s also important to make sure you plan something to eat, otherwise you may all start to feel just a bit tired (and possibly sick) before the day is done. If you’re all fond of the sweet stuff, check out our popular Chocolate Treasure Hunt. Yum!
Top Hen Tip #7 > Have a Giggle
Hen events are the ideal opportunity to have a really girly giggle and do something that you just know your partners would be appalled by. Have a last night of thoroughly silly, saucy freedom with an Ann Summers themed hen-party, in the comfort of your own lodge at Kippure Estate. Oh la la!
Top Hen Tip #8 > Dance the Day Away
If you’ve got an urge to get dancing, then a night in a club is always a fun event. However, it’s perhaps not quite special enough for a blushing bride-to-be. If you want to get up, out of your seat and boogieing, you could organise a private dance class. Learn to dance to Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’, or get raunchy with a Burlesque number, or get gran learning how to do a Bollywood dance!
Top Hen Tip #9 > Get the Right Hen Outfit
Even if the bride-to-be is a little shy, you’ll need to get her some form of accessory to announce that she’s the one getting hitched! If she’s an extrovert, handcuffs and angel wings are always good for a giggle; if she’s a bit more demure, perhaps a classy little badge will do the job nicely.
Top Hen Tip #10 > Remember the Budget
Remember that everyone involved in your hen-party will have a different budget, and as a result, a luxury weekend in Vegas might not be affordable for all. Think of something reasonably priced that offers great value for money. In short, it pays to do your research!
