There’s very little that Kippure Estate can’t help you with, when it comes to events and activities. We’re one of the most versatile establishments in the country, and we offer everything; from quality corporate team-building to alternative, magical weddings.
Kippure Estate in County Wicklow is second to none when it comes to spectacular settings. We’re surrounded by extensive woodlands, fertile pasture land and dome-shaped mountains as far as the eye can see.
In fact, we’re directly between the wild natural beauty of the Wicklow Mountains and the forested slopes of the Dublin Mountains. When you add the sparkling River Liffey into the equation, which forms the boundary between our 240 acres private estate and Wicklow Mountains National Park, you can see why we’re considered one of Ireland’s finest venues.
Despite being nestled deep in the heart of the countryside, Kippure Estate is only a 20 minutes drive from the outskirts of Dublin, 15 minutes from Blessington, and 40 minutes from Dublin city centre. We’re also less than an hour away from Dublin airport. Talk about best of both worlds!
Kippure has a rich, fascinating history, dating back to the 1700s. The estate was originally owned by the Moore family of Kilbride, where it was extended into a substantial hunting lodge, together with farm, ancillary features and a Victorian walled garden; indeed, the very epitome of classic country living.
In 1891, the estate passed into the ownership of an Anglo-Irish family, before disaster struck in 1922, when a fire broke out and destroyed the lodge. The current owners, Bríd and Tadhg Ó Cadhain (a family), bought the crumbling estate in the 70s and set about breathing new life into this historical location.
Explore our grounds on foot, and you’ll still find the ruins of old huts, standing stones, the remnants of an old limekiln, and several other pieces of evidence, hinting to the intriguing past of Kippure. On three of the hilltops surrounding the estate you’ll even find Neolithic passage tombs, each of them up to 5,000 years old (Seefin, Seefingan, Seahan).
